GASTROINTESTINAL TUBE INSERTION TECHNIQUES IN CRITICAL PATIENTS: SCOPING REVIEW

ABSTRACT Objective to map the production of knowledge about different techniques gastrointestinal tube insertion in critically ill and/or coma patients. Method scope review carried out December 2020 ten data sources, following assumptions established by Joanna Briggs Institute (2020) and PRISMA-ScR protocol. Results 25 studies were selected analyzed, identifying as main for patients: without aid instrumentals, such head flexion, lateral neck pressure, freezing, measurement with corrected formula tip ear-lobe tip-xiphoid process, Sellick´s maneuver, cricoid cartilage compression, SORT maneuver gastric insufflation. In addition instruments, use laryngoscopes video laryngoscopes. It is noteworthy that, order facilitate insertion, ultrasound examination, radiological, endoscopic fluoroscopy also identified. Conclusions evidence analyzed reveals that there no specific technique universally accepted
